I went on a quick overnight trip to Liverpool and I already can’t wait to go back! It’s a city that is definitely still riding on the coattails of the success of The Beatles but I don’t blame them! The city is certainly proud of their pop success story and line the streets with appreciation.
Matthew Street is constantly buzzing with music and noise from clubs, pubs and the novelty stores and there are statues, monuments and memorabilia of the group strung down the street. The city has a vibrant musical culture and you can’t make a turn without hearing a different busker or band blaring out of a club. You can tell that there is a high appreciation for all styles of music and artists - from the rock group busting the speakers in The Cavern, to the beat boxer stopping passes by on the street to docile tones of a boy and his acoustic guitar playing Ed Sheeran covers, you have to start somewhere and I’d say this city is a great place for that!
With only a day to explore, I only saw the very centre of the city but even with limited time, it was hard to miss the beauty of the old victorian buildings on every corner. It is certainly small but I know there is so much more to explore in Liverpool, so until next time…
